This class is designed for anyone interested in exploring the art of painting with oils. We will use water-based oil paints that allow non-toxic clean-up (safer and easier on the environment). As we begin with painting an arrangement of simple forms (a still-life), students will explore color-mixing and color relationships. Many possibilities exist for a variety of expressive results. We will briefly survey painting of the past as well as more contemporary works for inspiration. The instructor will assist each student in finding his or her personal style. Alida is an award-winning artist who has exhibited both regionally and internationally. She has over 25 years of teaching experience with students of all levels of experience. She has an MFA from the University of Arizona and a BA from Connecticut College.
