37th Annual Holiday Pottery and Art Sale, 2007

November 23, 24, 25, 28, 29, 30 – december 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9
Hours 10 am to 6 pm,   Fridays open 10 am to 8 pm

 
ELIGIBILITY:

Members working in all media are encouraged to participate and  sell  their work in this sale, which provides vital  financial support to SCAA, and strengthens our role and visibility in the community. Your dues must be current to participate.

registration:

To register  please visit or call the SCAA  no later than November 14 at 783-2195; we will  record  your  name, shifts you can work, and your 3 - letter  identification code.  See Invitation section below for optional registration  deadline information.
                                               
All original artwork is eligible, including paintings, drawings, pottery, photography, sculpture, textiles, handmade and  print cards, collage and jewelry.  All two dimensional works should not exceed a  20"x24" overall size, including the frame, or  total  square inches not to exceed 480.  All work must be original and created by the artist, prints of original artwork are not permitted. Prints originating from photographic mediums are ok. Jewelry and other  small valuable items should be displayed in your own secure locked cases. It is required that matted, unframed work be protected with plastic film. Sets of pottery: label 1 of  2, 2 of  2 " set " with price on one piece only, secure together  in an attractive manner  for  display.

Participating artists are required to help with the sale by  staffing  two sales shifts,  AND one pre-sale, or  post- sale activity for the sale.  When you register, we will schedule the shifts and the activity you will be working for the sale.  Please take note of your  scheduled shifts, and abide by them. If you are unable to attend a shift, you will be asked to find a replacement on your own to fill your  shift. 

INVITATION: Artists wishing to be named on the invitation must register by Oct. 10th .  Only  these named Pottery Artists agree to drop off at least 50 pieces of work priced between $10 and $85 each before the sale opens.  Only Named 2-D  Artists agree to drop off at least 15 pieces of work  priced above $20 before the sale opens. If an artist would like to have photos of their work considered for  the invitation,  please submit  JPEG images to  socart@verizon.net, before Oct. 6th.
DROP OFF:

Work may be dropped off at the following times: Sunday, November 11, 1- 5 pm, Wednesday,  November 14,  1 - 5 pm, Thursday, November 15, 1- 5 pm or Friday, November 16, 1-6:30 pm.  Any work dropped off  after the 16th  will be displayed, as space becomes available,  by the person in charge of  re-stocking the floor.  Members must put all late arriving work in the  designated storage areas only.  Up to 25 pieces of pottery or 10 pieces of 2-D work from each artist will be displayed on the floor during initial set-up.  This does not include mugs, matted works, cards, or  items displayed in baskets or cases.  Mugs will go on the mug board, matted work will go in the bins, and card racks, cases or baskets will each count as one item. 

SET UP:

The  show will be  set up starting on Saturday, November 17.  Any displays you have for your artwork must be brought at drop off time and will be used to display  your  work when the  show is set up, space permitting.

LIABILITY:

Work will be handled with all possible care. However, SCAA is not responsible for  damage or  theft occurring during  set up or sale.

SALES:

All work must be individually marked with a price and your artist's identification letters.  Please use only the  removable type labels when marking your work.  Removable labels are available at Staples.  If it seems that your labels are not  sticking very well, please cover  your label with clear Scotch tape .  If a label falls off  during the show, the piece will be removed  from the floor until re-labeled  by the artist.  SCAA commission for all work in this sale is 30% of  the  selling price.

PICK-UP:

All work must be removed  from the gallery on Sunday, December 9 from 6 to 8 pm.  Artists leaving more than 10 pieces in the gallery  will be assessed a $25 Transporting Fee  if there is no one here responsible for  consolidating their  work  into the hallway.  The $25 fee , if incurred , will  be deducted from the Artist's commission check .
