Open Juried All Media 1 Exhibition
Exhibit Dates January 18 - February 10 Eligibility All artists are invited to submit up to 3 original works in any media. Works must have been finished in the last 2 years and not shown previously in a SCAA juried exhibit. Opening Awards will be presented at the Opening Reception on January 18, 6-8 PM Awards 1st Place ($200), 2nd Place ($125), 3rd Place ($75) cash awards. 3 Honorable Mentions. Entry Fee Members: $20 for single entry, $15 each for multiple entries Non-Members: $25 for single entry, $20 each for multiple entries. Student / Military Veteran: $12 per entry (with valid ID). Entry Fees are non-refundable. Framing All work must be wired and ready for hanging. No one measurement is to exceed 48”. Sculptural work must be easily transportable. Sales SCAA retains 30% on all sales for members, 35% for non-members. Delivery All entries must be hand-delivered to SCAA, January 7 - 11, from 1-5 pm each day. Pick-up Entries not accepted may be picked up Wed - Sun, 1 - 5 pm, starting January 17. Accepted work should be picked up on Sunday, February 11, from 1 - 5 pm. Juror Shari Weschler | Sumo Bunni b. 1970 Shari Weschler, branded as Sumo Bunni, is an American figural narrative painter, illustrator and photographer who exhibits nationally and internationally. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the Maryland Institute College of Art, with concentration in painting and art history. While attending MICA she studied drawing, printmaking, and gelatin silver photography. Her exhibition history includes over thirty solo and forty group shows and has been published extensively. She is an avid collector of fine art and masks. She was the founder, owner and director of Coastal Contemporary Gallery founded May of 2018 in Newport, Rhode Island. The gallery represented over thirty exceptional national and regional artists and collaborated with independent curators. Her business won Best Of Rhode Island, Rhode Island Monthly 2021 for Contemporary Gallery. Weschler has served in various positions including board member, curator, co-curator, juror, consultant and portfolio reviewer for other prestigious galleries, associations, and collaboratives. Residing in Providence, RI, she is currently employed as Executive Assistant to the CEO of a corporate consulting firm, while also offering private artist coaching services such as writing, installations, archiving, studio visits and portfolio reviews. Her work focuses on unveiling the multiple levels of human and humanness. Her goal is to create visuals that push into new realm and transcend obvious assumptions. Passionately interested in quantum mechanics, the psyche, theater, animal nature, technology, communication, and ancient history these elements are found unraveling within her imagery. SUBMITTING YOUR ARTWORK For each of our juried exhibits, artwork must be submitted in person on the designated dates. When dropping off your artwork you will be required to fill out an entry form for each piece. In addition to your contact information you will need to provide the Title, Media and Sale Price for the work. If there is no title, “untitled” is acceptable. If you do not wish to sell the piece NFS or Not for Sale may be designated on the form. Each piece will be assigned an entry number. Keep track of your entry numbers. Juror selections will be posted on the Exhibit Results page of our website. Accepted submissions will be listed by entry number. Artificial Intelligence Policy: Only works original in conception and execution are eligible for exhibition at the South County Art Association. AI-generated art or works derived in whole or part from AI technology are not elegible to be exhibited, sold in our gallery or store or any art sales that we hold. TERMINOLOGY Open Shows designated as "open" are open for anyone to submit, members and non-members. SCAA membership is required for exhibits not designated as open, such as the Members Annual, and Member Invitationals. Juried Indicates that the work for the show will be selected by a juror. A different juror is chosen for each show. The juror will view all of the submitted artwork and select the pieces to be exhibited as well as the award winners. |
