Our COVID Safety Plan of Action
Updated December 2020 SCAA is moving forward into a world that has changed for all of us. We know that connecting to the arts is important during this time and we want to keep providing you the resources so you are able to view, share and learn about art. Our priority is the continued safety of our students, members, volunteers and staff. We're following all of Rhode Island's guidelines. We have a limited staff each day but we are still open normal business hours of Wednesday–Sunday from 1-5pm. We are also working from home with the primary mode of communication being emails to info@southcountyart.org. Knowing that we are transforming to a more virtual world, we’re going to focus on updating our website regularly with new classes and exhibit information as they become available. During this uncertain time, gift certificates are a wonderful way to support us and for anyone to attend future classes/workshops. Following are some specific steps we are taking to keep everyone safe. Exhibits Our updated exhibit schedule is here. There will not be any public exhibit openings for the foreseeable future rather an invitation to view exhibits during our open hours Wednesday - Sunday from 1-5 pm. Read our FY 2019-20 Annual Report that details all we've done this past year. |
Classes
For January, February & March... We've decided to postpone our in-person classes until April 2021 to keep everyone safe. We will be offering online classes. Check our website often to see any classes that are added. Let's keep creating! For April 2021 onward ... We'll hold painting and mixed media classes in our gallery. Its large size can safely hold six students within the social distancing guidelines, along with the teacher. Air Purification for gallery classes Air purification is one part of a larger Covid mitigation plan which includes the safe practices of mask wearing, hand washing, limited class size and social distancing. The SCAA has purchased two Blue Pure 211+ air purifiers for our gallery classroom space. Each purifier has a clean air delivery rate of 350 cubic feet/minute meaning it will clean the air in a 540 sq. ft. room 5 times an hour. Mitigation reduces risk but does not eliminate risk. Whether indoors or out, each student will have their own table/chair placed 6 ft. apart from the others. We have sanitizer spray, gel and wipes for everyone to use. Gloves will be provided if common objects are being used. Masks must be worn inside and requested to be worn outside. For specific details about our Pottery Classes, refer to this document. We are continually working with our teachers and staff to provide an environment which will help you feel comfortable and safe here. We have always been a place for artists to use their art making as a retreat to relieve stress, relax and freely express themselves. It’s times like this when it’s even more important to be a safe refuge for our community. If you have any questions, or concerns, please do get in touch with us. |
