Handbuilding Mugs - January 17
Mugs offer a great opportunity for potters to experiment. They’re a nice, manageable size and offer all sorts of fun design and ornamentation challenges to the maker.
In this class we will be exploring multiple ways to handbuild mugs using slabs and some optional wheel throwing techniques. Various building and ornamentation methods will be taught such as darting, extruding, handle pulling, pinching, carving, sgraffito, sculpting and texturing.
We will make a collection of unique mugs with emphasis on aesthetic decision-making and functional design. By week eight we will end the class with a selection of inviting, beautiful and very cozy mugs!
