MEMORY JUG
Popular in Victorian times as folk art, the memory jug tradition is believed to have originated from African mourning vessels and used as grave markers encrusted with meaningful objects for possible use in the afterlife for the deceased. This class will make a modern version using memorabilia from your personal collection as a unique way to display tiny treasures.
Materials :
$10 materials fee payable at the first class. Your supplied kit will contain air dried clay and other sundry items to complete your project.
Week 1:
A glass or ceramic vessel about 8 – 10 inches tall such as a vase, jar, teapot
Small spritzer bottle to hold water
Trinkets and small objects such as game pieces, buttons, coins, gems, old jewelry, shells, beads. We will have a community pile so you can bring some extras to share or trade.
Week 2:
Acrylic paint
1” brush
Xacto knife
