The purchase of my SX70, opened up a new workd of photography, one of experimentation and letting go of control blah blah blah quotes from the ancient sages, and essays about the work. Who is Sarah Lawhorne?

Sarah Lawhorne is an award-winning multidisciplinary artist who specializes in alternative and analogue photographic processes, as well as writing and poetry. A lifelong lover of photography and the written word, with a long-time interest in Taoist and Zen thought, Sarah fuses her spirituality with her art practice. Based in Rhode Island, Sarah travels the northeastern United States, and beyond, honing her craft. As a practitioner of Zen, she believes in the power of the quiet moments of life, in the peace and stillness that can be found in the Now, and much of her work is focused on this ideology.

She has had work published in Newport Life Magazine, F-Stop Magazine, and Creative Quarterly: The Journal of Art and Design. In 2023, she completed an artist residency with Orein Arts in upstate New York. Her haiku and senryu poetry has been published in tsuri-dōrō, Modern Haiku,Failed Haiku, Prudence Dispatch, frogpond, and cattails. Photography and poetry have provided a means of growth, exploration, and understanding in her life. She hopes to inspire others to see the greater truth that is all around us, and to discover the peace that we all carry within ourselves.
