Dinner Under the Trees
an evening celebrating our creative community
Each summer, the South County Art Association community gathers in our backyard garden for an evening of art, conversation, music, and celebration. Join fellow artists, friends, collectors, and supporters for a memorable summer fundraiser beneath the trees
enjoy a private preview of the 99th Annual Members Exhibition, followed by dinner, cocktails, live music, and the Awards Presentation with this year’s Guest Juror Amy Genser
about the evening
Dinner Under the Trees is a chance to celebrate the artists and supporters who make our community so special.
Guests will have the opportunity to preview this year’s Members Exhibition before gathering outdoors for dinner, cocktails, and music in our garden setting. During the evening, our Guest Juror of Awards will announce this year’s award recipients and share insights into the selected works.
The event also honors the long history of the South County Art Association. Founded in 1927 by a small group of artists exhibiting together for the summer, SCAA has grown into a vibrant creative community of more than 500 members representing a diverse range of artistic expression.

Amy Genser
Amy Genser works with paper, paint, metal and wood to explore her obsession with texture, pattern, and color. Evocative of natural forms and organic processes, her work is simultaneously irregular and ordered. She uses paper as pigment and constructs her pieces by layering, cutting, rolling, and combining paper.
The process is a meditation, which Amy describes as a beautiful dream. Her hands take over and her mind is quiet.
The natural world is a clear source for Amy’s work. She is fascinated by the flow of water, the shape of beehives, and the organic irregularity of plants, flowers, rock formations, barnacles, moss, lichen, and seaweed. Her pieces bring to mind aerial landscape views, satellite imagery, and biological cellular processes.
Amy’s love affair with paper began in 2000 in a paper-making class at the Rhode Island School of Design, where she got a masters degree in Graphic Design. Amy lives in West Hartford, CT with her husband and three sons, and spends her summers on the beach in Rhode Island.
