SCAA deeply values a strong community ... one that promotes unity, hope and artistic acceptance.
You make it all possible. Your financial support allows us to create opportunities for artists to grow, students to learn, and for the community to celebrate art. We continue to maintain a robust exhibit schedule, host art events, and offer classes with your support. We also want to continually expand our outreach and make our arts community more active, inclusive, and accessible. Here are just some of the initiatives your contribution makes possible:
We’re implemented a new Arts and Wellness Program in January that is a series of classes that focus on the healing benefits of art and promotes self-care, health, and wellbeing. We will offer these classes to our own community and, in collaboration with South County Health, offer Expressive Arts Programming to their front-line health personnel. We’re partnering with the South Kingstown 300th Anniversary Steering Committee organizing the first Wakefield Arts & Culture Festival and Open Studio Tour that’s planned for September 9, 2023. We’re also on the South Kingstown 300th Anniversary Public Art Installation Committee tasked with bringing a greater public arts presence to our community. Plans are underway to complete our ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) Studio Annex Project, allowing people of all abilities to participate in our classes. Your support also helps us preserve our two historic buildings that serve as the architectural soul of SCAA. Our thought-provoking Diaspora Exhibition is online. This exhibit calls attention to how displacement relates to cultural identity. With support from the Rhode Island State Council of the Arts, we made it accessible on our website. |
We’re partnering with the Jonnycake Center for Hope to reduce barriers to art access by offering scholarships to their clients because art is a powerful force in our community.

You sustain us. We make the most of every dollar. As a nonprofit arts organization we invest in our mission. We know these are challenging economic times. We understand. With a gift of any amount, you take your place with those who deeply value the importance of a vital community arts organization. If you are able, consider a Legacy Gift of $95 or more in celebration of our 95th anniversary. Thank you!
