PAINTING IMPRESSIONISTICALLY
This is a studio painting workshop in which you will learn techniques that will add color vibrancy to your work. Using photos, notes, plein-air sketches, and other observational data you may have gathered in the past, we will construct vibrant paintings in the studio by employing approaches developed by the great impressionist and neoimpressionist painters such as Monet, Seurat, Hawthorne and Hensche. We will also take note of techniques used by painters bordering the line between Impressionism and Tonalism such as Metcalf and Hassam. The workshop will also include color exercises using simple still-life objects to enhance sensitivity in the observation of color.
