Everything from sunlight raking across cherry blossoms to a strange vocabulary word [inspires me to create]. I keep sketchbooks, notes, and boxes of fabric and collage material, and try to make sense of all the sparks.

I find inspiration in the everyday. It could be the color on the side of an old building, the pattern of a fence, or the curve of a beautiful letterform. It can be random and unexpected.
Lisa O'Rourke
In my sgraffito work, nature plays a central role. I’m inspired by botanicals, sea life, and the calming beauty of the sea itself. These natural elements allow me to express movement and texture, and they remind me of the connection between our surroundings and the objects we create.

Lisa Sledzik
Like most artists, I have an inner need to create. This drives me to try my hand at different mediums and new techniques. Through taking workshops with great artists and watching hundreds of YouTube videos, I feed my curiosity and stay inspired.
Sarah Z. Short
I work with found vintage papers and ephemera, mostly from books. I spend a lot of time sourcing materials and taking them apart. I have a Nolan Proof Press and use my collection of wooden type to print onto the book pages. That process of collecting and printing the papers inspires the art.
Michele Hoben
Musicians feed the vibration to physically move my body and mind. Photo journalism influences me with the research and visual stories they tell. Science is the non-visual edge that provokes much of my imagination.
Marc Jaffe
I shoot when I'm on the street, waiting for food at a restaurant, at a funeral, in a museum--everywhere. And if I get something good, it's that much sweeter. I find that my observational skills keep improving with time--for me it's all about seeing the world around me and capturing whatever I find interesting at the moment.
